New teachers, assistant principal, dean join staff of Capital Region Career & Technical School in Albany & Schoharie

The Capital Region Career and Technical School (Career & Tech) announced new teaching and administrative staff including a new dean of students and interim assistant principal for its Schoharie campus and new teachers at both its Schoharie and Albany campuses.

Debra Davis of Oneonta is Dean of Students at the Schoharie campus and Middle States Association accreditation coordinator for both campuses. She comes to Career & Tech from Delaware-Chenango-Madison-Otsego BOCES, where she was coordinator of mentoring and work experience and taught Early Childhood Education and Human Services. Davis also served as summer youth employment coordinator for the Otsego County Office of Employment and Training.

Denise Capece of West Sand Lake has been named Interim Assistant Principal at the Schoharie campus. A consultant teacher at both campuses in the past, she also interned as Schoharie Dean of Students last school year.

Raymond A. Paglieri of Middleburgh is serving as Interim Principal, Albany campus, as well as continuing to serve as Schoharie campus principal.

Randy Barber of Cobleskill is teaching Automotive Trades Technology at the Schoharie campus, where he was Teaching Assistant to Marty James, who retired.

Zachary Metzler of Hadley is teaching Equipment Operation/Landscaping Services, a new program for special needs students at the Schoharie campus, where he also will teach sections of Industrial Heavy Equipment Technology. Metzler previously worked as an equipment operator for Adirondack Industries Construction, Co. and as technician and sales coordinator at Nortrax Equipment in Clifton Park.

Fred Barnes of Cobleskill is teaching the GED program at Career &Tech's Schoharie campus. He recently retired as a professor of Early Childhood Education at SUNY Cobleskill.

Jeffrey Austin of Schenectady is teaching Integrated English at Career & Tech's Albany campus. He comes to Career & Tech from Niskayuna High School, where he taught English; he also taught at Coxsackie-Athens High School.

Tina Barber of Ballston Lake is teaching Practical Nursing for adult students at the Albany campus. Barber was previously a clinical instructor in the program.


Jennifer Burke of Schenectady is teaching Alt Ed Math at Career & Tech's Albany campus. She previously taught at Duanesburg High School.

Also at the Albany campus, Erica Dow of Gloversville is teaching Alt Ed English and sections of Integrated English. She previously taught English at Chelsea Campus High School in New York City.

Paul Rother of Delmar is teaching Culinary Arts & Hospitality Technology at the Albany campus, upon the retirement of Chef Faltskog. A Certified Executive Chef, he was previously senior culinary instructor at the Job Corps Academy in Glenmont.

Jonathan Segol of Saratoga Springs is teaching Integrated English at Career & Tech's Albany campus. He previously taught teacher education at the University at Ottawa, where he is pursuing his doctorate, and has taught English in diverse high school settings.

Kim Orlando of Albany is teaching the GED program at Hope House in Albany. The program is administered by Career & Tech's Adult Education program. Orlando taught GED with the Department of Corrections and most recently was a teacher in the Capital Region BOCES' Advanced Learning Program for High Achievers (ALPHA).
