2006 NYS SkillsUSA Competition
Team Career & Tech lives up to winning
reputation at SkillsUSA
Web Design student deletes opponents; Culinary
student cooks the competition
Ashley Brozowski and
Amanda Tubbs are number one! They took first place in their
events at the 2006 New York State SkillsUSA Competition in Syracuse
April 5-7. Ashley, a student in Ms. Ferlazzo's Web Design class at
the Albany campus, deleted her opponents, taking home the
first-place trophy in data entry. Ashley also attends Voorheesville
High School. Amanda [pictured
below], a student in Chef Iannacone's
Hospitality Technology and Culinary Arts
class at the Schoharie campus, cooked the competition in food &
beverage service. Amanda, who also attends Berne-Knox-Westerlo High
School, goes on to national competition in Kansas City, Mo., in
June.
Team Career & Tech also scored big in several other competitions at
the SkillsUSA States. Career & Tech Culinary Arts and Bethlehem High
School student Christina Avery took home a second place medal
in food & beverage service; Web Design and Mohonasen H.S. student
David Breda took second in office technology; and Floral Design
and Cohoes H.S. student Jessyca Keffer took second in floral
design. Career & Tech Welding & Metal Fabrication and Schalmont H.S.
student William Hickok scored a third-place medal in welding
the the SkillsUSA States, while Culinary Arts and Bethlehem H.S.
student Patrick Pittman took home third in the job skills
demonstration competition.
