Schoharie Central School, Schoharie campus lockdown, lockout April 17 as a precaution
Career & Tech's Schoharie campus conducted a lockout and Schoharie Central School a lockdown for part of the school day April 17 as a precaution, but classes proceeded and students were dismissed normally. Letters to parents and guardians were sent home with all students of both schools explaining the precautionary safety procedures. The lockout and lockdown were initiated in late morning after a staff member at Schoharie Central Schools viewed what turned out to be pellet pistols in a vehicle parked nearby. Schoharie Police located the vehicle, which had driven away, and its occupants in town and are handling the matter. Schoharie Central School Superintendent Brian Sherman and Capital Region BOCES issued a news release.
