Successful Cosmetology grad never stops
learning, growing
Cyndy Slyke's passion for Cosmetology is as boundless as the
opportunities the field presents and rivaled only by her enthusiasm
for Career & Tech. A class of 2000 alumna of the
Cosmetology
program at the Albany campus, Slyke has worked as a hairstylist,
cosmetics representative, makeup artist for print and television,
beauty consultant, contributing writer and volunteer. She has won
awards, been published and is a popular guest speaker who is
dedicated to advancing her own professional education.

Now a stylist
at Saratoga Debut in Saratoga Springs, Slyke is adamant about the
value of a Cosmetology education for high school students. "Why wait
until after graduation and spend $10,000 on beauty school when you
can learn Cosmetology at Career & Tech?" she says. "And there are so
many things you can do with a Cosmetology license, so many
professions. You can build a career, work full- or part-time or earn
great money to pursue other goals. There is always something new to
learn. My work is fun, and I do what I love. I feel like the
luckiest person in the world."
