Lodging
Management
Lodging Management is a one-year
program for high school juniors or seniors seeking careers in the management or
operation of resorts, hotels, motels, casinos, theme parks, and
other, diverse businesses. Students gain hands-on, real-world knowledge,
learning both on campus and at area businesses. They also earn
college credit and may earn high school credit for integrated English
and/or math.
Lodging Management is endorsed by
the American Hotel & Lodging Association and the NYS Hospitality
& Tourism Association, allowing students to earn national
certification as Certified Rooms Division Specialists. To achieve
certification, students must complete 160 hours during the school
year or during the summer.
Students who complete Lodging
Management are well prepared for success in the educational and
employment arenas. Juniors completing Lodging Management may
continue their studies through Career & Tech programs such as
Culinary Arts & Hospitality Technology or International Virtual
Business, an exciting new program opening in Fall 2007.
Seniors completing Lodging
Management may continue their studies at the college level at two- or four-year postsecondary
programs or enter higher level, managerial positions in the field.

Prerequisites:

target to complete11th grade requirements so
student can enroll as a senior, or completion
of year one of Culinary Arts & Hospitality
as a junior.
- Overall
grade point average of 80 or higher.
- Record
of positive attendance and behavior.
- Ability
to work well with others in a
professional
environment.
- Completion
of program application.

Students create a portfolio for
presentation to teachers, peers,
administrators and/or industry professionals.
The portfolio includes employability information
and exemplary work in communication and
technical skills which the student has
created during the school year.
